Camp LaRuach is licensed by the Rockland County Board of Health. Reports are on file at the Board of Health and at the camp office.

Camp LaRuach provides a summer setting for spiritual growth and physical enjoyment. In order to strengthen what was acquired during the school year, and if possible to add to it, our campers should realize that “fun” does not mean laxity in our religious observance – in our conduct, speech or dress. Tznius is all-important. Individual whims and fashion trends can overstep halachic guidelines. We are taking this opportunity, before you make your final preparations for your camp wardrobe, to remind you of what is and what is not acceptable. The rule of thumb is “when in doubt, do without.”
Please make sure that:

  • All socks are at least knee length (short socks such as bobby socks, anklets) or slouch socks, even with long skirts are unacceptable).
  • Sleeves cover the elbows under all circumstances.
  • There be absolutely no slits in your skirts (even if the slit begins below the knee).
  • Tight-fitting clothing may not be worn.
  • No nail polish may be worn.
  • No leggings may be worn.
  • Sneakers with wheelies are not permitted in the Ashar building.

Camp LaRuach takes its campers on numerous fun and exciting trips throughout the summer. The camp covers the expense for all trips including one major trip each
half.

Nit checks will take place for all first half and full summer campers on Sunday, June 25 from 9:30-11:30 at Ashar, 360 New Hempstead Road.  If you are unable to come at that time please call Mrs. Etty Stern at 845-368-0870 for a private appointment.  The cost of a private appointment is $10 per child.

Ashar is located at: 360 New Hempstead Rd, New City, New York 10956. Coming from Monsey, take Grandview Ave to the end which is Union Rd. Make a left turn (CR 80E). Union becomes New Hempstead Rd. The second light after the Palisades Parkway overpass is Buena Vista Road (CoBea Coffee Shop). Make a left turn there and then make a right turn at Beatrice Lane into ASHAR. Bear right to the parking area.

Please take note that you cannot make a left turn from New Hempstead road into Ashar’s parking lot. You will be ticketed for crossing a double yellow line.

To ensure our children’s safety, please make sure that carpools drop off and pick up children ONLY in the designated area on the campgrounds.
